Gordon H. Hart, P.E., is a consulting engineer for ARTEK Engineering, LLC., with 30 years of experience working in the thermal insulation industry. He is an active member of ASTM C16 on Thermal Insulation, ASTM F25.02 on Marine Insulation / Processes, ASHRAE’s Mechanical Insulation Systems Committee and NIA’s Technical Information Committee. Michael J. King, FCSI, CCS

Michael J. King, FCSI, CCS

Michael King is the Director of Engineering Specifications at ARCOM, the writers and publishers of AIA MASTERSPEC®. Michael joined the MASTERSPEC team in May of 1986 and has accumulated over 36 years of experience in mechanical design, specifications, and construction administration in Indiana, the District of Columbia, and Virginia. Michael has been a speaker at several CSI and AIA national conventions and ASHRAE Chapters and the principle instructor for several CSI and AIA national seminars. He has also presented seminars on CSI specification principles to several engineering firms throughout the United States. Michael is a Fellow in CSI and has served on several Institute Committees, including chairman of the Certification Committee, chairman of the Formats Subcommittee, and as a member of the Ad Hoc Certified Construction Product Representative Committee and the Ad Hoc International Implementation Committee. Michael was chairman of a Steering Committee that founded the International Construction Information Society (ICIS) and served two terms as its President. ICIS is an organization of 15 companies from 12 countries who publish master specifications or principles for writing specifications. Michael is currently serving as a voting member of ASHRAE Technical Committee 9.9 - Commissioning, GPC1-96R -The HVAC Commissioning Process, and GPC4-93R - Maintenance and Operation Documentation.

 
Michael Lettich

Michael Lettich

Michael Lettich is the Principal Consultant of MJL Consulting where he helps the Chemical, Petroleum, Pulp & Paper, Utility and a variety of other industries to improve maintenance and safety programs. Michael consults in four areas; insulation, coatings, contractor effectiveness, and safety. Prior to MJL Consulting, Michael worked for the DuPont Co. where he retired after 28 years. While at DuPont, he held management and technical consulting positions helping clients across the United States by providing maintenance consulting and project management solutions. Michael helped implement DuPont's Thermal Insulation Maintenance Service (TIMS), providing strategic, focused, cost effective insulation maintenance programs in industry. In addition, he has held positions in Safety and Fire Protection consulting, Manufacturing Management, along with Process and Capital Project Engineering.

 
Scott Pignolet

Scott Pignolet

Scott Pignolet has a long extensive history of successfully developing, selling, managing, and delivering maintenance services to the petroleum, petrochemical, chemical, pulp and paper, mining, and utilities industries. He recently retired from DuPont after a twenty-six year career and now is active as a consultant, coach, and instructor. Some of his important accomplishments while at DuPont include: playing a key role in the development and commercialization of DuPont's TIMS Thermal Insulation Maintenance Service; taking an active leadership role in DuPont's Corporate Maintenance Leadership Team; helping develop and advance best-of-the-best facility maintenance practices; playing an essential role in the design, development, and implementation of seven generations of proprietary computerized maintenance management systems; conceiving, designing, and implementing computer-based technology for risk based assessment of corrosion under insulation; upgrading insulation site survey methodology to reduce delivery time and increase design quality; and developing and leading various training programs for DuPont and clients. He authored several articles that appeared in NIA's Insulation Outlook magazine and has been a speaker at many industry events.

 
Sam Schell

Sam Schell

Sam Schell was director of the Donlee Technologies Boiler Service School in York, Pennsylvania, for over 12 years; he was both the originator and author of the courses. Sam's past experience includes the U.S. Navy Nuclear Power Training Program, Project Manager for Operating Procedures at Doswell Combined Cycle Plant, Instructional Development for DOE Nuclear Facilities, Turbine Training Development for Westvaco Corporation, Exxon Refineries Training, and Project Manager of Systems Description for General Electric Combined Cycle Gas Turbine Power Plant. In addition to teaching for Industrial Interactions, Sam is President of his own consulting engineering company, SESCO Inc.

 
Gary Whittaker

Gary Whittaker

Gary Whittaker began employment with Tennessee Eastman Company in Kingsport, TN as a materials engineer. He is still employed by Eastman with the title Materials Engineering Associate where his general responsibilities include corporate consulting in the areas of materials selection, corrosion control, failure analysis, coatings and thermal insulation. Gary has been a corporate specialist for coatings and insulation since 1991. He served on the PIP Coatings and Insulation Function Team since it began concurrent with the founding of PIP. He currently serves as Function Team Leader of the C&I team. He also served as Technical Advisory Council Chairman for the Materials Technology Institute of the Chemical Process Industries from 1997 to 1999 and was elected to the MTI Board of Directors in 1999 and to the position of BOD Vice Chairman in 2001. Gary established Whittaker Materials Engineering Associates, L.L.C. in 2000 to provide materials engineering consulting services to the CPI and related industries. He is currently working with a team of engineers from Honeywell Laboratories and Oak Ridge National Laboratory to develop an advanced corrosion monitoring system.
