It may also contain<br \/>\nreinforcing fibers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=BasicParagraph><span style='size:11.0pt;120%;\nfamily:\"Calibri\",\"sans-serif\";color:windowtext'>Perlite Pipe and<br \/>\nBlock Insulations are covered by ASTM C610. The standard covers the material<br \/>\nfor operating temperatures between 80\u00b0F and 1200\u00b0F.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=BasicParagraph><span style='size:11.0pt;120%;\nfamily:\"Calibri\",\"sans-serif\";color:windowtext'>Perlite pipe<br \/>\ninsulation is supplied as a hollow cylinder split into half or<br \/>\nquarter sections, or as curved segments. Pipe insulation sections are typically<br \/>\nsupplied in lengths of 36&#8243;, and are available in sizes to fit most standard<br \/>\npipes. Available thicknesses range from 1&#8243; to 4&#8243; in \u00bd&#8221; increments. Thicker insulation<br \/>\nis supplied in nested sections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=BasicParagraph><span style='size:11.0pt;120%;\nfamily:\"Calibri\",\"sans-serif\";color:windowtext'><span\nstyle='-.1pt'>Perlite block insulation is supplied in lengths of<br \/>\n36&#8243; and 1 meter, widths from 24&#8243; and in thickness from 1\u00bd&#8221; to 6&#8243; in increments<br \/>\nof \u00bd&#8221;. Perlite molded fitting cover insulation is available for a wide variety<br \/>\nof standard elbow and tees.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=BasicParagraph><span style='size:11.0pt;120%;\nfamily:\"Calibri\",\"sans-serif\";color:windowtext'>Scored and V-Groove<br \/>\nsections are also available. Special shapes such as valve or fitting insulation<br \/>\ncan be fabricated from standard sections.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=BasicParagraph><span style='size:11.0pt;120%;\nfamily:\"Calibri\",\"sans-serif\";color:windowtext'>Perlite is normally<br \/>\nfinished with a metal or fabric jacket for appearance and weather protection.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=BasicParagraph><span style='size:11.0pt;120%;\nfamily:\"Calibri\",\"sans-serif\";color:windowtext'>The specified<br \/>\nmaximum thermal conductivity for both block and pipe insulation is 0.48<br \/>\nBtu&bull;in\/(h&bull;ft\u00b2&bull;\u00b0F) at a mean temperature of 100\u00b0F.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=BasicParagraph><span style='size:11.0pt;120%;\nfamily:\"Calibri\",\"sans-serif\";color:windowtext'>Perlite insulation<br \/>\nproducts also comply with the ASTM C610 requirements for flexural (bending)<br \/>\nstrength, compressive strength, weight loss by tumbling, moisture content,<br \/>\nlinear shrinkage, water absorption after heat aging, surface-burning<br \/>\ncharacteristics, and hot surface performance. Additionally, it complies with<br \/>\nthe standard for use in contact with austenitic stainless steel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=BasicParagraph><span style='size:11.0pt;120%;\nfamily:\"Calibri\",\"sans-serif\";color:windowtext'><span\nstyle='-.1pt'>Typical applications include piping and equipment<br \/>\noperating at temperatures above 250\u00b0F, tanks, vessels, heat exchangers, steam<br \/>\npiping, valve and fitting<\/span> insulation, boilers, vents, and exhaust ducts.<br \/>\nPerlite insulation is often used in insulation systems where water may enter<br \/>\nand cause corrosion or process problems.
