NIA Signs Joint Standards Development Agreement with AMPP

Herndon, Virginia – (March 5, 2024) — Aiming to establish a unified mechanical insulation standards program, the National Insulation Association (NIA) and the Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) have formalized a partnership by signing a Joint Standards Development Agreement. NIA’s Executive Vice President and CEO Michele M. Jones and AMPP’s CEO Alan Thomas are pictured above at the agreement signing during the AMPP Annual Conference and Expo.

“This partnership represents a significant milestone for NIA and the broader insulation industry,” stated Michele Jones, NIA’s Executive Vice President and CEO. “By aligning our efforts with AMPP, we’re not just setting new standards but driving standardization and efficiency in insulation applications across various sectors. This collaboration is a step forward in our commitment to sustainability, decarbonization, safety, and enhancing the value insulation brings to the global market.”

The agreement is designed to facilitate joint standards development in areas related to mechanical insulation in the commercial and industrial markets. It encompasses thermal, acoustical, and personnel safety requirements in mechanical piping and equipment in hot and cold applications; heating, venting, and air conditioning (HVAC) applications; refrigeration and other low-temperature piping and equipment applications; and metal building insulation. NIA is an authority in the mechanical insulation sector and AMPP aims to foster a unified approach to industry standards and elevate corrosion control standards.

“As we look ahead, this partnership with NIA stands as a beacon of progress in our quest for excellence in standards and practices within the corrosion and insulation sectors,” said Kristin Leonard, AMPP Global Center Chair. “Together, we are setting a new benchmark for quality and performance, ensuring that our industries not only meet but exceed the expectations of today and the demands of tomorrow. This is just the beginning of a transformative journey for our members and the communities we serve.”

NIA is a not-for-profit trade association representing both merit (open shop) and union contractors, distributors, laminators, fabricators, and manufacturers that provide thermal insulation, insulation accessories, and components to the commercial, mechanical, and industrial markets throughout the nation. Since 1953, the northern Virginia-based association has been the voice of the insulation industry and is dedicated to keeping the commercial and industrial insulation industry up to date on the latest industry trends and technologies.
