Herndon, Virginia—June 22, 2022—The National Insulation Association (NIA) is proud to announce it has signed on to be a Better Climate Challenge Ally, a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) initiative to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across U.S. buildings and industrial plants. Allies work alongside the DOE to identify, recruit, and support organizations interested in becoming Better Climate Challenge Partners and reducing GHG emissions across their U.S. building and plant portfolios. In addition to NIA, more than 20 organizations have joined the challenge as allies, including ASHRAE, the U.S. Green Building Council, and the Association of Energy Engineers.
NIA’s Executive Vice President/CEO Michele M. Jones noted, “We are excited to be an Ally and amplify the message about the power of insulation as a thermal technology solution to reduce GHG emissions and increase energy efficiency. NIA has been sharing this message of reducing energy consumption and saving money for decades. As governments, companies, and individuals work to reduce their carbon footprints and reduce GHG emissions, we are eager to share the message that insulation plays an important role in helping achieve their immediate, short-term, and long-term goals. We look forward to working with the DOE and our peers to help create a better planet.”
NIA encourages its members and Insulation Outlook magazine readers to join the more than 110 partners that have already taken the Better Climate Challenge and pledged to reduce their GHG emissions by at least 50% within 10 years. By accelerating energy efficiency and other clean energy investments, reporting on progress, and sharing their plans and solutions for meeting their ambitious goals, partners help pave the way for others. Participating partner organizations can tap into the Better Buildings network, engage with other market leaders, access peer-to-peer exchange opportunities, and leverage technical assistance from the DOE and the national labs.
