NIA Board of Directors Adopts New Bylaw Changes

Reston, VA—May 8, 2017—The National Insulation Association’s (NIA’s) Board of Directors voted unanimously at its recent meeting during NIA’s 62nd Annual Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, to make 3 amendments to the NIA Bylaws. The changes allow Associate (Manufacturer) members to be nominated and hold office within the association, allow Active members to vote on Regional Insulation Association Board representatives, and recognize the newly formed Young Professional Advisory Committee (YPAC) as a NIA operating committee.

Associate (Manufacturer) members will now be able to nominate one voting representative from the Associates Committee to the Board of Directors, and the NIA Nominating Committee can nominate one Associate member for an At-Large position on the NIA Board. Only one Associate member may hold a position within the Executive Committee at any time.

In addition, all Board positions, At-Large, and Regional representatives, whether appointed by the Regions or nominated by the committee, will require a vote by the NIA membership at the Annual Business Meeting held during NIA’s Annual Convention.

And lastly, the Young Professional Advisory Committee (YPAC), NIA’s newest operating committee, whose first meeting was held during NIA’s recent Annual Convention, will provide fresh insights and innovative ideas on issues important to the industry and NIA. The committee is open to NIA members 40 years old and under or to those who have been in the industry less than 5 years.

NIA’s Executive Vice President/CEO Michele M. Jones noted, “These Bylaws revisions acknowledge and amplify the varied voices in NIA’s membership. It’s important that we recognize the contributions to the advancement of the industry from our Associate members, give our members a voice in their regional representation, and engage in a more structured way with our younger members. The Board and I are excited to move forward with these changes.”

The NIA Bylaws are always available for member review on the Members Only section of the website on www.Insulation.org. The new changes are italicized within the document. NIA members may access the Members Only section of the website using their username and password. For questions, or to request a username and password, email membership@insulation.org.
